The first news reports
about Shawn's disappearance on March 29, 2006 seem to be solely a result of National Park Service
press releases about the incident. They were almost two days
after the incident, misleading, and
unclear relying primarily on the statements of Robert Milano and the
National Park Service. A thorough investigation as normally
expected from
law enforcement agencies in such a situation was never
conducted.
